Truth

James 1: 21-22

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the Word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

James advises us to get rid of everything that is wrong in our lives and humbly accept the salvation message we have received, because it alone can save us. It is important to listen to what God's Word says, but it is much more important to obey it and do what it says. We can measure the effectiveness of our Bible study time by the effect it has on our behavior and attitudes.

In our Sunday School class we studied the authority of Scripture and 2 Peter and there were a few items that stood out very strongly to me.

  1. The Word of God stands as our authoritative statement of God's truth

  2. All Scripture is God breathed

  3. Many good books are written each year but none speak with the authority of the Bible, many are written about God, but only one is written by God.

REFLECTION:

How has the Bible transformed you? Do you merely read the word or do you obey God?

PRAYER:

Father, we humbly come to you today and ask for transformation of our lives, help us to obey you when you call us to do your will. Show us what you need from us and your truth always. We ask for your guidance and courage to stay strong through these times Father and for you to give us further understanding of your word each day. In Jesus name we pray Amen.

ACTION:

Take time to dedicate to understand God's truth and study your Bible whether alone or with a small group.
