Do you have a favorite scent that brings you instant joy or a favorite memory? I love fall smells but my absolute favorite is vanilla, boy when I smell vanilla it instantly takes me to that special place in my Grandma's kitchen watching her bake a pie!
Many scriptures use fragrances as reminders as well, In Hosea 14-6, God's forgiveness of Israel is said to "fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon" 2 Corinthians 2:15 "For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing" Ephesians 5:1-2 "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma."
Fragrance can also be mindful of our testimony of faith around us, looking at Proverbs 27:9
"Oil and perfume make the heart glad, So a man’s counsel is sweet to his friend".
Just as the scent of vanilla reminds me of my Grandma, may all of our lives produce a scent of Jesus and may His love remind others of their need of him.
