Why would someone build a house without a solid foundation? Perhaps to save time and avoid the hard work of preparing the stone. Perhaps because waterfront scenery is more attractive or because beach houses represent a higher social standing. Maybe they haven't heard about the violent storms coming or they have discounted the reports or think disaster could never happen to them. Whatever the reasons, those with no foundation are shortsighted and they will be sorry.
Obeying God is like building a house on a strong, solid foundation that stands firm when the storm comes. When life is calm, our foundations don't seem to matter. But when crises come, our foundations are tested. Be sure your life is built on the solid foundation of knowing and trusting Jesus Christ.
LUKE 6:46-49
"Why do you call me, Lord, Lord, and do not do what I say? As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood caome, the torrent dtruck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete."
REFLECTION:
Is your house built on God's foundation? What do you need to do to ensure you have a foundation built on knowing and trusting Jesus Christ?
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, we need you now more than ever, this world is falling apart and has forsaken you, please help us to seek You each day with all we do. Father let Your will be done in our lives each day and let Your presence be known. Your glory is what our hearts long for and we want to be overcome by Your presence. Help us to remember this and to reach out for You on the good and bad days. In Jesus name we pray. Amen
ACTION:
Seek the kingdom of God each day, build an intimacy with the Father and obey him.
