Watching "War Room" on Pure Flix and a few of the characters were talking about God and a question came up that seriously made me go HMMM! and I want to share it with you today!
How is your prayer life? Is it hot or cold? This made me think about my prayer life!
Then she said: Let's talk about coffee for a minute: Do you like your coffee hot or cold? People like there coffe either hot or ice cold not lukewarm. Lukewarm coffee isn't very good and leaves you wanting more of what you really wanted.
Now let's go back and talk about our prayer lives for a minute. Do you think God is satisfied with our lukewarm prayer life? Or do you think he wants us to be all in and have a "hot" prayer life where everything goes to him in prayer? God wants us to pray! Prayer is one of the most powerful weapons God has given to us to battle the enemy. We need to be on our knees in prayer but for me sometimes it is hard to know how and what to pray for and how to pray the right way.
In Matthew 6 Jesus was asked to teach us to pray, do you know what his answer was? Let me show you: The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9–13) is Christ’s response. It is a beautiful prayer and one that every Christian should hide in their heart. I do not believe Jesus intended it to become another ritualistic prayer. Rather, it was to be an example of how to pray.
‘Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever AMEN!
This is a wonderful lesson on how to pray if we listen and it brings us back to the basics of prayer in a great way! I have been working on my prayer life and have found there are a few things that help me make my prayers better. I will take the next few days and go into some more detail on those for you.
