Pastor Gerald Mershimer joined us last night for revival and the message was so powerful. Even we are humiliated and ashamed because of what we have done, the past is in the past and Jesus loves us. Peter denied Jesus three times before his crucifixation and when Jesus rose he reinstated Peter.
John 21 talks about the miraculous catch of the fish and how Peter and his crew had caught nothing all night, Jesus was waiting on the beach and told them go back out and cast your nets on the other side, they did and their nets were filled so full!
Afterwards he told them come eat, when they finished eating Jesus said "Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord", he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said "Feed my lambs"
Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." Jesus said "Take care of my sheep."
The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?"
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you."
Do you see the signifigance of him asking three times? How many times did he deny Christ? Yet he still loved him, and Peter led many to Christ throughout the rest of his life. No matter how bad you think your past is God loves you and if you ask he will be with you.
Isaiah 53: 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
