Yesterday we ended by talking about standing in faith against Satan with courage, you may be wondering how can I stand firm every day against Satan and his evil minions. In case you are starting with today, that is where the full armor of God comes in and protects us. Ephesians 6:18 tells us "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and request. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people."
You may ask yourself, How can anyone pray on all occassions? One way is to make quick, brief prayers a habit as you respond to every situation you encounter throughout the day. These can be simple requests for help or spontaneous thanks for the beauty around you. In addition you can order your life around God's desires and teachings so that your very life becomes a prayer. You don't have to isolate yourself from other people and from daily work in order to pray constantly. You can make your prayer life and your life a prayer while living in a world that needs God's powerful influence. "Praying for all the Lord's people" means praying for all the believers in Christ; pray for Christians you know and for the church around the world.
REFLECTION: How can you add more prayer to your daily schedule? Even the quick little prayers like we talk about above.
PRAYER: Father, your power amazes me and I am grateful that you are willing to arm us with the power to defeat Satan if we follow your word. Your word is the ultimate power and made flesh by sending Christ to die for us. Give me the strength and courage to follow your word and be a warrior in your army against Satan and his schemes. Help me to stand firm with the belt of truth, guard my heart with the breastplate of righteousness, fit my feet with the gospel of peace, give me the shield of faith to exinguish the flaming arrows he will surely throw my way, thank you for the helmet of salvation that covers my sin so I don't have to believe his lies and help me continue to learn from the sword of the Spirit each day. I praise you and worship you and thank you for all your blessings. In Jesus name I pray Amen.
