ANCHORED IN HOPE

HEBREWS 6:19 "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm, and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain."

These two unchangeable things are God's nature and his promise. God embodies all truth; therefore, he cannot lie, and we can be secure in his promises. We don't need to wonder if he will change his purposes and plans.

Our hope of heaven stands secure and immovable, anchored in God, just as a ship's anchor holds firmly to the seabed. To someone truly seeking who comes to God in belief, God gives an unconditional promise of acceptance. When you ask God with openness, honesty, and sincerity to save you from your sins, he will do it. If this truth gives you encouragement, assurance, and confidence, grasp it. Don't let go no matter what happens around you.

If you have suffered betrayal or disappointment it is easy to let doubt settle in and to start to question God's promises and whether or not you can trust God. We can take God at his Word because it is impossible for him to lie. Lying is a sin, and He is without sin. He will do what He said He would do.

The next time doubt seeps in, remember God's promise to you cannot be broken, even in terrible storms he is your safe and secure anchor.

REFLECTION:

What thoughts or emotions do you have that need to be anchored in hope?

PRAYER:

Father, I come to you with hands raised and ask you to lift the doubts and fears. You know where it stems from and I invite you to heal those wounds and give me hope again. Help me to believe Your promises and to remember Your words in my times of doubt. I place my hope in You alone, for You are my safe and secure anchor. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen

DECLARATION:

God's hope is reliable and anchors my soul.

ACTION:

Talk with God about any thoughts or emotions that need to be anchored in hope. Repeat the declaration above as many times as needed.
