JOY

1 PETER 1:8-9

"Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls."

Jesus had said to his disciple Thomas, who came to believe after seeing the resurrected Christ, "Because you have me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet believed" (John 20:29) Peter, having heard those words, echoes them here. "Though you have not seen him, you love him." Faith brings both salvation and promise of a day when pain will end and perfect justice will begin. Faith will be rewarded and evil will be punished. But what should we do until then? The Bible gives us a simple but difficult answer. Because we know the future, we must faithfully serve God here and now. If today that means resolving a conflict, mending a hurt, working a dull job, confronting a belligerent child, rebuilding a marriage or just waiting for guidance - do it all with the joy of God, who will return with the reward he has promised!

REFLECTION: How are you faithfully serving God this week?

PRAYER: Father, align my heart with Yours, search my heart and make changes wherever needed, help me to cling to Your promises so that they are engraved upon my heart and are alive within me. Help me to focus on You and not the outcome of my prayers, remind me to pray first, pray throught it and pray after to keep my relationship with you strong. Help me to remember it is You who will judge everyone and it is not my place to judge others, remind me not to resent those who persecute me in any way and help me to walk strong in my faith each day. I know because you are my salvation I do not have to be afraid and I can call on You and You will save me. Thank you for all you do each and every day for me Father. In Jesus name I pray Amen.

ACTION: Take time to reflect and see if there is any conflicts you need to resolve or hurts you need to mend this week and ask God to help you do it.
